Hi,

I have a system of Dell power edge server 2600 consisting of 5 hard disk and are of 40GB capacity. One of the hard disk is corrupted and is replaced with 70GB SCSI HDD but still it is showing array Failed. What should we do to rebuild the array or it will be automatically created. We are using RAID of level 0 and level 5.

Please help.

Hi Ebony,

Once you have replaced the bad drive, the array should build itself, but may take several hours. Since you have used a hard disk of 70GB greater than earlier one (40GB) I recommend you to first checkout whether your server is capable of taking the bigger size disk or not. If the answer is NO then, replace it with a 40GB hard disk. Hope this will rebuild the array without showing any failures….!
