Hi All,

I have a DDS-3 tape drive. I am able to write data to the tape but unable to read the data back. On making multiple attempts to read the data, the tape drive hangs up.

The tape drive contains all my personal and official data. Here are my system specifications: FreeBSD 5.2.1, generic kernel, x86 (P3), SCSI card is Adaptec AHA2940 and tape drive Python 04106.

I am not able to trace out the cause of the problem. Any suggestions and solutions are welcome!!!

Shen.

Hello Shen!

It looks like there is a problem with your tape drive and not the tape itself.

You can remove the tape and put it in another DDS3 drive and see your files.

Hope, this works out for you!

If you are still not able to read the data, please let us know!!!!

Salvager.
