Hey, I'm hoping somebody here will be able to give me some guidance as I'm running out of ideas...

I took my PC in for servicing and the technicians ended up wiping it clean and reinstalling windows.

I forgot to notedown some of the key passwords to some web sites. Now I am unable to recover them using various conventional techniques.

I would like to know if any application can recover web site passwords and cookies.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Hi Adam,

First of all, I would like to know whether the technicians have used any Disk eraser utility to wipe off the data on the disk or they have just formatted the drive and reinstalled Windows.

If they have just formatted the drive, then it’s good news for you that the data you are looking for can be recovered. If in case they have used any disk wiping software then there is no chance of recovery as these software’s overwrites the data on the drive and neatly destroys which becomes highly impossible by any data recovery software’s of data recovery services to recover the overwritten data.

Hi adam,

I would suggest you to run the Demo of a recovery utility and see if it can find you lost files. If yes, then use the full version to recover your lost files.

Whatever the software it might be, though, a potent point to remember here is that when you download the program it is best saved on a disk other than the one you hope to recover data from or you could be permanently erasing otherwise recoverable data.

All the best.

Salvager.

Thanks for the information Slavager and Aiyana... . Data Recovery Services sounds to be very expensive, Data Recovery Software is a better option, Will give it a go. Thanks for all.

Adam.
