Hi All,

I have a WD hard drive that is corrupting at an alarming rate and I'm trying to pull as much data off it as I can onto my external drive.  When I make an attempt to copy the files, Windows say hard drive is corrupted or the source file is missing.

Please suggest me the best course of action for saving the files.

Hi Bobby,

In such case, I would suggest to stop using the drive and not experimenting anymore with the drive, as this would create more irrecoverable situation for your data.

This might be due to some logical failure. There are chances that the file system of the drive has got corrupted so you are not able to access the drive in the normal way.

There are various Data Recovery Software’s which gives you a flexibility to do it on your own capability; if you fail to do by yourself you may send the drive to any Data recovery services company.

If you are using the software, then connect this faulty drive as slave to one of the healthy machine and then continue the recovery process by installing any file recovery software on to this healthy machine.
