I need to know what software can recover/repair a damage/corrupted HD?

I need to do this for my girlfriend. Her hard drive is NTFS formatted with XP installed. Windows doesn't recognize the drive anymore and asks to format.

Which product does the job? Any suggestions please.

Thanks in advance.

It’s really confusing from the question, as you have already formatted your drive with NTFS. So now the question is do you want to recover data from formatted NTFS partition or from the partition which you had before formatting? If so, what was the file system of the partition before formatting?

Aiyana, I am really sorry for the confusion. The data she is looking to recover is from a NTFS partition which was later formatted back to NTFS. From the day she formatted the drive, she has not used it anymore. As I had told earlier, ‘Windows doesn't recognize the drive anymore and asks to format.’ due to which she has not performed any read/write operations on the drive. So I think there are good chances of getting her data back. What you say!

Thank you for the clarification.

It’s good that your girl friend has not performed any read/write operation on the drive. This has saved the data from overwriting.

The best solution is using a Data Recovery Software especially a NTFS Data Recovery Software which would help recovering your data.

Once you install the software and start the scanning process, the software would show the partitions which you have got after formatting the drive. Since she is looking to recover data from the partitions which was there before formatting, she need to first search for the lost partitions and once the lost partitions are found, go ahead with the scanning and recover your data.
