Hello!

I have a damaged hard drive with some excel and word files which i forgot to backup. I ran a data recovery software to recover my files.

when I opened the recovered files, its full of unreadable data like symbols, numbers, alpha-numeric values etc...

Any clues or possible solution?

Hi Sayen,

The files getting opened in this manner is due to overwriting. Hope you have not mistakenly installed the software on to the same partition from where you are trying to recover your lost data, which also results in overwriting. Once the data gets overwritten, it’s highly impossible to recover them.

You can give a try using File Recovery Software. If by any chance the data has not got overwritten then you would be able to recover your lost data using this software.
