Hi,

I have a 160 GB Samsung Hard Drive; the drive was having Windows OS. I accidentally formatted my Hard Drive with Linux.

Will the Windows Recovery version recover the data?

Hi Kaitlin,

Sure, data can be recovered using any Windows Recovery software. Since you have formatted your drive from Windows to Linux, you would need Windows Recovery version to recover data from Windows partition.

I would suggest you to not to copy or save any data on to this drive until you are through with the recovery process, as further attempts would overwrite the data and recovery would become highly impossible.

Don’t install the Recovery Software on to the same drive from where you want to recover data, install the software on a healthy machine having windows Operating system in it, and then connect this faulty drive as salve and continue with the recovery process.
