Hi All,

I had a SATA hard drive on my which was working perfectly fine. I installed a second SATA drive in my computer last week for additional storage. I installed it successfully and it showed up in Windows as the additional drive. With the idea of having RAID 0, I rebooted the system this morning and changed the BIOS settings to enable RAID.
Now the computer will not boot. All my data (not backed up, of course) is on the original hard drive. Is there any way to recover that data?

Any help!!! all thoughts are appreciated.

Hi Wyome,

Basically when you setup the RAID array the Master Boot Record has changed.. so the data is probably still there (if you havn't performed a format) but you won't be able to boot your original windows installation without some configuration.. What you will have to do first is, delete the RAID volume, just disconnect the original drive, and install Windows on the new drive, then hook up the old drive and use a Data Recovery Software to get the data off the old drive.

All the best.
