Hello everyone!

I have a 4mm DAT format tape running on digital alpha server 2100 for regular backups. Now, the tape does not take backups regularly due to some parity error. The parity error occurs even after using new tapes. I have many other doubts:
  • The problem is with the tapes or with the disk drive itself?
  • What bpi (bytes per inch) should the tapes have?
Any suggestions Plzzz!!!!

Sam.

Hi Sam De Sliva,

You have not mentioned the Parity error occurring.

Also, let me know which are the other tapes (new tape as you mentioned in your post) you have tried?

Incase of DDS or DAT backups, the specific model of tape drive will be of central interest.

What is the DDS tape drive model you are using?
