I have a very situation. I installed Ubuntu over Debain on the same partition of the same disk. You must be thinking how stupid I am. But all this happened in just few minutes.
I chose reformat, and immediately stopped it by literally puling the plug of the disk. But until I recall what actually has happened, it was too late. . I have tried to look at the disk using the storage media function in ubuntu but it says "can't mount the disk - not in fstab or mstab".
Can anyone advice what data recovery software would run under ubuntu and help me recover my data.
Aiyana.

Hi Aiyana,
I think you wiped out the partitions during the Unbuntu setup. Even though you ended the format, it is not only the partition tables probably broken but the installer might removed the whole basic partitioning structure already and fresh part of the new format placed on it.
If this has happened then I think you lost everything and only professional Data Recovery Services will help you. If your data is worthmore then I suggest you to consult Professional Recovery Company.
All the best...
