Hello everyone,

I have a Hard Drive that has crashed. I tried connecting it as slave drive, but the system won’t even recognize the drive and says it needs to be formatted.

Drive is having Win XP and NTFS file system on it.

I have several important pictures on the drive, which I would like to recover. Can anyone guide me as which software helps me retrieving the data from this drive?

Without recognizing the drive, how would you get the message for formatting?

It means the drive is getting detected by BIOS. If you are able to see the drive letter under My Computer, then you can recover your data using any Windows Recovery Software.

Since you have mentioned the file type to be NTFS, you can try using NTFS Data Recovery software in order to recover your data.
