Hi Allan,
A missing drive reference may indicate that the drive has failed or that the signal or power cables have come loose. Since you have mentioned you have unplugged and cables of the hard drive and restarted it and still the problems persists. It is clear that your hard drive has gone bad.
Firstly, stop restarting your system again and again as this may further damage the hard drive. You can consult a hardware company regarding hard drive repairing or the better solution is to replace the bad hard drive with a new one… . Hope this provides solution to your problem...!
