My External Hard Drive enclosures LED’s are just blinking on and off, but the computer doesn’t recognize the drive.

When I plugged it into the computer (a computer with a tendency to freeze) it detected the drive and began to install it for use and all of a sudden it froze mid process. So I restarted the computer and then I noticed the blinking and it wasn’t working. Meanwhile it’s clicking at the same rhythm as the lights are flashing as if it is turning and stopping.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Larry!

Clicking sounds are because of some physical damage to the disk drive. Please do not test the drive further for the cause of your precious and sensitive data.

You immediately need to consult professional data recovery services company such as Disk Doctors Labs, Inc. You can ask them for a free evaluation of the media and then can view the details on the chances of recovery once you receive the analysis report from them.
