Hi,

I use RAID 1 configuration having 2 disks. My mirrored disk got out of sync, and all that I could do is just see one of them. I deleted the content from one of the mirrored drive knowing that the data on the other one may be still intact... I should have checked it before deleting it, and now I have lost my data.

Please help me out from this problem and suggest me how to recover my data out of the deleted drive? Or mirror?

Hi Cali,

Data can be recovered provided you have not copied any more data on to the same drive from where you have lost your data, as it might result in overwriting. Overwritten data cannot be recovered.

May I know the file system on your drive and also have deleted some stuff or the whole drive?

Please make the things clear to me...

Since I had two drives with RAID 1 configuration, I thought by deleting data from one drive the data on the other drive would be still intact. I didn’t have any knowledge that it gets automatically deleted even from the other drive as it’s mirrored.

And now to answer your questions, I have not copied or saved anything after performing deletion operation. This was the best part I have done throughout and regarding the file system, it’s NTFS.

Will Software work in my case or do I have to ship my drive to any of the data recovery service labs. Shipping will again become a problem for me. If I have to choose services then would you kindly suggest me any service labs near to my place so that I can personally drop the media. I am located in Houston.

Looking forward for your reply!

Hi,

It’s good that you have not performed any saving operations on the drive. Good news is that, data can be recovered. You have two ways in which you can recover your data. You can either use a Data Recovery Software or choose Data Recovery Services.

If you choose Software, then you need to use NTFS Data Recovery Software as you are having NTFS file system. But in some situations, repeated efforts to access data areas with utilities can make problems worse, or can render data unrecoverable. If the data is important, it may be better to consult data recovery professionals before any recovery attempts are made with utilities.

Since you are looking to recover data from RAID drives, you have to be more careful in choosing right services that have experience in RAID Recovery.

You also wanted to know if there is any lab in Houston. Yes, they have their servicing labs in Houston. In that case you can personally drop the media to their labs.
