I have a high point rocket RAID for both windows XP and 2000.one array is RAID-5 with 3 disks and I would like to add another disk to this array. Is that a new disk can be added only if the disk is broken and how can it be done.

Please anybody help me.

Hi Kate,

What is the model of the Highpoint Controller you are using? It is very important to know whether the controller supports a RAID expansion feature or not. If the controller does not support the expansion feature then, the only solution is to follow these steps:

  • Firstly, backup the array data.
  • Secondly, delete the 3 drive array and recreate a 4 drive array, as you wanted it
  • Finally, restore the data to the newly created RAID array.

Hope this clears all your doubts…!
