Unformatted capacity refers to the total storage capacity of a hard disk
before its formatting. In simple terms, it is the drive byte capacity
before formatting. Unformatted drive capacity is a physical property relating
to the number of platters and the density of data.
Unformatted capacity of a drive includes the boundary definitions, space
that will be used to record location and timing information. Unformatted
capacity is calculated actual size of the disk plus overhead data needed
for formatting.
