Recovery Glossary > RAID 5
RAID 5 involves the combination of stripping technique with parity codes,
and reducing the chances of data loss. RAID 5 offers excellent utilization
of total disk space, fault tolerance and low cost of redundancy. Thus,
RAID 5 is the most popular implementations of RAID. Generally, RAID 5
is implemented with hardware support for parity calculations and uses
block-level striping across all member disks. RAID array is termed as
Block Interleaved Distributed Parity.
