Data Recovery Glossary > RAID 1

RAID 1 uses the concept of mirroring and duplexing. When compared to RAID 0, RAID 1 is more consistent in reducing the risk of data loss and providing fault tolerance. It uses the concept of mirroring in which data stored on one disk is simultaneously written on another disk thereby providing excellent reliability and reduced data loss. The major drawback of RAID 1 is inefficient use of total disk capacity.
