Data Recovery Glossary > Quarantine

Quarantine is the process of separating files containing virus into another directory, thereby reducing the danger of infecting other files in the disk. In simple terms Quarantine is isolation of computer virus. Here the infected files are removed and enclosed in a quarantine area. The infected files are no longer used by any application unless the virus is removed and the data is extracted from the infected files. Anti-virus software includes the quarantine feature to keep the track of virus activity.
