Data Recovery Glossary > MTTR

MTTR is the acronym of Mean Time To Repair/Recover. It is the average time taken or will be taken to repair a drive that has failed. For a device MTTR refers to the time taken for servicing drive until it is in a working mode. MMTR of a device range from self-resetting fuses up to whole systems which have to be replaced.

Calculation of MTTR includes the following points:

  • Time spent to ascertain the source of a error
  • Time spent to resolve the error
  • Time spent waiting for the error to be solved.
