Hard disk is a magnetic round plate on which computer data can be stored. When compared to floppy disk, hard disk has high storage capacity that range from 10 to more than 100 gigabytes. Hard disk comprise of many platters. Each platter has two read/write heads one for each side. Further the read/write heads are attached to a single access arm to regulate their movements.

Hard disk platters are made of many tracks where the actual data is stored. Hard disks rotate at a high speed and provide quick access of the stored data. Thus, hard disk is a storage media with high speed, durability, accessibility and reliability.
