Data Recovery Glossary > EIDE

EIDE stands for Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics. It acts as a standard interface between a computer and its storage devices. EDIE is a hardware interface and faster than the IDE. It allows for high performance and large capacity drives.

It supports devices like the hard drive, CD-ROM drives and zip drives. EIDE is widely used because it is relatively faster and inexpensive. EDIE as the named indicated is the enhanced version of the ATA-2. Apart from high speed it provides the facility of large memory and can connect up to four devices to the computer.
