Data Recovery Glossary > E-mail Bombs

Email Bombs is a code that is executed when many messages are sent to a single mail address. The primary intention here is to fill up the disk space and overload the web server. An email bomb is the most common method used against internet hosts.

When an email bomb is sent through a single site the system may suffer DoS attack and may even crash. The effects of email bombs are overloading network connections and utilizing all system resources and disk space. The messages sent in an email bomb will be large and contain meaningless data with the intention of occupying more disk space.
