Data Recovery Glossary > Disk drive

Disk drive is the device used to store information stored on a disk. A disk drive usually has one or more read/write heads that enable to read and write the data from the disk. A disk drive rotates the disk at a high speed and reads or writes the information from it.

A disk may be resided within the computer or may be connected to the system separately. The various disk drives used are: hard disk drive read and write data from a hard disk, floppy drive reads and writes data from a floppy disk and finally the optical drive which reads data from optical disks.
