Disk cache is the particular section of the hard disk that stores information that is recently accessed. Disk cache is included in the hard disk as an essential part of the hard disk to improve the time taken by the read/write head to access the data.

Disk cache stores frequently and recently used disk sectors in RAM. However the major drawback of disk cache is during the event of computer crash the data stored in the disk cache is not copied back to the disk and as a result huge amount of data loss.
