Data Recovery Glossary > Damage Disk

A disk is said to be damaged, when the data contained in it is inaccessible. The damage may be either a physical or logical damage. Some of the causes for disk damage are:

  • When the disk is making an abnormal noise like clicking etc.
  • When the BIOS cannot detect the hard disk.
  • When Scandisk, Chkdsk, Vrepair commands are executed automatically while starting the system.
  • When the hard disk does not execute created new partition, format or any action that they lead may lead to loss of data.
