Recovery Glossary > CRC
CRC stands for Cyclic Redundancy Check. CRC is a procedure or process
used for checking errors in data transmission. It is used to verify data
block integrity. In other words, CRC is an error checking technique used
to ensure the accuracy of digital data transmission.
During the CRC technique transmitted message are divided into predetermined
lengths and are divided by a fixed divisor. The remainder of the calculation
is added and is sent with the message. After receiving the message the
computer recalculated the remainder, if it does not match with the transmitted
remainder an error is detected.
