Recovery Glossary > Corrupt Data
Data that is changed or damaged in such a way that it can no longer be
used and accessed is termed as corrupt data. The most common reasons for
data corruption are improper system shutdown, disk failure, hardware failure,
and when good data is over-written with random characters causing the
data to become unreadable.
Data corruption refers to errors in computer data that may occur during
transmission or retrieval of data or making unintended changes to the
original data.
