How many different levels of RAID
are there?
RAID is Redundant Array of Independent Disks. It is combination of hard
disk drives which are linked together for higher performance.
The levels of Raid are:
- Raid 0: This level helps for striping the data across multiple disks
without any unneeded information; this also helps for high performance
and also for high storage.
- Raid 1: This level helps for maintain copy of data Separate disks
drives. This level provides highest data availability as two sets of
data is maintained.
- Raid 3: This level striping of data is made only to a set of disks;
this level can withstand a single disk failure without losing data or
access to data. This level provides good data availability. Equivalence
is generated and stored on dedicated disks.
- Raid 5: In this level both equivalence and data striping is made
this reduces chance of data loss. This level offers excellent utilization
of disk space. This disk has poor write performance as each write requires
four independent disk accesses to be completed.
